This application presents a geospatial web application designed to facilitate regional flood modeling specifically for non-urban areas by utilizing the FloodPy application. Non-urban regions are often characterized by unique hydrological dynamics, and understanding the extent and impact of flooding in such areas is critical for disaster preparedness and environmental conservation. The FloodPy model provides valuable flood prediction information, enabling us to visualize and analyze the flood-prone regions in non-urban areas through our web application.
Our application offers an intuitive user interface and the ability to overlay FloodPy results onto geographic maps. It is important to note that while this application excels in modeling floods in non-urban areas, its accuracy in urban areas, particularly on impervious surfaces, may be compromised due to the processing limitations of Sentinel-1 imagery.
The versatility of this geospatial web application lends itself to various applications, including natural resource management, conservation planning, and rural disaster response. By providing a robust tool for regional flood modeling in non-urban contexts, our application empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions, enhance resilience in non-urban landscapes, and contribute to sustainable land use practices. Users should exercise caution when applying the model to urban areas, considering the limitations associated with impervious surfaces in the Sentinel-1 imagery processing.
